Like the rest of the country, the island had a downturn in activity and prices after the economy tanked in 2008, but recent years have shown a steady increase in sales of multi million dollar homes on the island. The biggest two MLS sales in the history of New Hanover County occured in 2022, one for 9.5 and one for 10 million.
